Alan Legum received his B.A. from Johns Hopkins University in 1968 and his J.D. from the University of Maryland School of Law in 1971. He started his general litigation practice in Annapolis, Maryland in 1972. For more than 40 years Alan Legum helped people receive the full amount the law allows, particularly in cases of serious personal injury, wrongful death, medical malpractice and electrical injury. Mr. Legum served as a member of the Juvenile Services Advisory Board from 1972-1976 and of Governor’s Commission on Landlord Tenant Laws from 1978-1984. He has also sat on the Anne Arundel County Trial Court’s Judicial Nominating Commission and has served as a trustee for the Anne Arundel County Bar Association. Mr. Legum had a long and storied career of public service and fighting for the little guy. At his memorial service he received commendations from the Annapolis City Council, the Maryland House of Delegates, and the Anne Arundel County NAACP. Shane Nikolao graduated from Eastern Michigan University in 2003 with a B.S. in Psychology and Political Science. He received his J.D from the University of California, Hastings College of the Law in 2006. While attending Hastings, Shane worked as a law clerk for the Hassell Law Group, P.C. in San Francisco, where he assisted in personal injury litigation for two years. After graduating law school Shane moved to Maryland where he was admitted to the state bar and began working for the personal injury firm Rosen & Esterson in Baltimore. In January 2008 Shane joined what was then the firm of Alan Hilliard Legum, P.A. where he practiced law under the guidance of Alan Hilliard Legum. In 2014 Shane became a partner in the firm. Since joining the firm, Shane has represented individuals with personal injury, medical malpractice, and general litigation claims throughout Maryland in both state and federal courts. Shane is a member of the Maryland Association of Justice, the Maryland State Bar Association, and the Anne Arundel Bar Association.
Prior to joining our firm, Lisa was an Associate Attorney at Hyatt & Weber, P.A. in Annapolis. At Hyatt & Weber, P.A. Lisa focused her practice on medical malpractice, toxic torts, and personal injury claims. Lisa attained her bachelor's degree from American University, majoring in Business Administration. She then obtained her juris doctorate from University of Maryland Law School. After obtaining her law degree, Lisa clerked for the H. Judge Giordano in Northampton County, Pennsylvania. During law school, Lisa helped economically disadvantaged clients who had little faith in the legal system while working at the law school legal clinic. She was inspired to become a personal injury and malpractice attorney because she wanted to continue helping clients navigate their legal difficulties. Lisa is dedicated to fighting for clients who have been hurt in car crashes or suffered an injury due to a physician’s negligence. Lisa is committed to protecting clients’ legal rights and getting them the compensation they deserve. She lives in Annapolis with her husband, her son, Giovanni, and her two dogs, Lily and Owen.
Tara obtained her Associate’s Degree in Paralegal studies from Anne Arundel Community College in 2015. She has been with the firm since July 2015. Tara's focus at our firm is handling complex medical malpractice and personal injury cases. She is currently working on completing her Bachelor’s Degree in Legal Studies at University of Maryland University College. While outside of work Tara enjoys spending time with her dog and cheering for the Ravens.
Sue joined the frim in May of 1989 and handles most of the day-to-day administrative matters. Sue also assists the firm with a variety of different legal cases involving personal injury, workers compensation, and criminal matters. When not at work, Sue enjoys spending time with her husband, children, grandchildren and her dog Freddie.
Darla Watts has worked in the legal field since the 1970s taking a few years off to be with her children. She earned a Bachelor's Degree from the University of Maryland-Baltimore County in Interdisciplinary Studies with a focus on juvenile justice. Darla has worked for law firms handling several different types of legal work. Darla has been with our firm for over 16 years where she has focused on auto accidents and personal injury cases. When not working Darla enjoys spending time with her family, especially her granddaughter.
